Magical Destroyers #11 — Title Drop
June 16th, 2023
Whole lotta censored blood this week.
Impressions:
I feel like I've completely lost any notion of what the story is supposed to be. Shobon in particular went straight from composed puppet master to cackling mad lunatic based on… the flashback reveal of him being visited by demon lord Anarchy/Slayer while messing around in Gamemaker and I guess uploading himself through a vomited up USB cable into his computer? Meanwhile, Pink and Blue went into the door to hell where they fought zillions of clones of themselves while their memories were being erased, because all this was part of his grand scenario to create his true magical girls, the Magical Destroyers. Also, they were born from some girl he has in a vat and the annoying magical pet was evil all along. I… am pretty sure I jumbled up at least something.
It was at least another very well animated, very action packed episode. I don't think its convoluted nonsense of a story nor Shobon abruptly turning into a complete psychotic maniac (well, more so of one) out of nowhere are doing it any favors, and I can't help but wonder if the censored multi-colored blood was the right stylistic choice. The music and the yelling during the massacre/memory wipe was on, but then things are spurting puple and green fountains and it's just silly, but maybe like a lot of this show, perhaps the jarring juxtaposition is meant to be the point. Well, at least it's one show this season that's reaching a fever pitch in its final episodes. That definitely ain't nothing.

Quite ballsy to lift their plot twist from Serenity (2019) of all films.
