The Sacrificial Princess #01 — Big Balls

What are those even supposed to be?

I'm calling it quits on Godless World. The third episode was basically just stuffing the sex-changed knight into increasingly fetishy outfits, from maid to bikini to Brazilian carnival. And then at the end, the dude used his knowledge of modern era to overnight turn the rural village with a tech level of around the 1700s to the 2000s, complete with riding lawnmowers. As just "Hey, I should use my knowledge," smash cut, and done. Such encylopedic knowledge for a 17 year old cultist. Animation remains horrific. CGI remains even more horrific. Yelling remains incessant.

Impressions:

I have no idea why these are getting so popular lately. Maybe furry culture has finally reached Japan, or there was a big marketing campaign for Beauty and the Beast.  It's the same as all the others though. Girl is an orphan who has supposedly given up on life and therefore is not scared of the big bad furry king who threatens to eat her, and therefore can see his inner kindness. He then injures himself in some way protecting her, so him taking her as a child slave wife is romantic, not disturbing and weird. And mind you, it'd be weird even if it was a pointy-chinned pretty boy, and of course, like always, he has that form too. Why it keeps ending up being some monster with a lion's head, I could honestly not tell you. 

If you actually want this to work, there needs to be a lot more depth to the characters and story than just copy and pasting the same goddamned setup as the other fourteen things with this exact premise from the last couple years. Both characters are boringly perfect with no flaw except being a bit melodramatic. Having a lion head sometimes is not a unique character trait making this interesting. This one tilts slightly more comedic over melodramatic than others, but not significantly so. We're nowhere near the point of creative bankruptcy as idol shows or reincarnation cheat power dreck, but give it a year or two and a dozen more of these and we'll see.

    This is ok for young girls and so on but when authors learn that beast romance stories only work when one of them isn´t human and can´t transform into a human price with horns, fangs or whatever. The promise of the premise becomes void otherwise.

    The Great Snake’s Bride got it´s award and readership because it´s about having sex and children with a giant scaly snake god that doesn´t follow any human set of morality. Come for the near body horror snake sex, stay for a story no one else is publishing anywhere rn. That is how you will be remembered a decade on.

    That said, only one approach can lead to getting an anime.
