MASHLE #01 — AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
April 7th, 2023
Splitting cream puffs instead of injecting them is for wimps.
Taking a short break here to walk the dogs and respond to some work e-mails, though I watched this about 45 minutes ago under the mistaken assumption a non-watermarked stream would be up shortly. Oops. Anyway, three things all air simultaneously at 9:30 Pacific (ie now), and then the last two shows today are TBS/MBS shows that are supposed to air at 10/1030 (as those end), but are already delayed at least 30 minutes due to probably baseball or tennis. Possibly more! Or maybe will be up at the regular time from 'simulcasts' which are no longer simul in any way, shape, or form.
Impressions:
Man, when I get to the Friday shows where the humor isn't someone screaming at the top of their lungs, that is going to feel like such a relief. "BWAAAAAAGH! THAT IS NOT THE WAY YOU FIX A DOOR! BWAAAAAAGH!" This is a joke in the same way that being kicked in the face is a prank. And they just keep screaming. Not even the most banal gag can pass without someone going "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" The closest thing to a laugh from this show was seeing the ad for the OP during the commercial break, featuring the singer in a hoodie having an epiletic fit on the floor of a club while a businessman in a suit is sitting in a chair gesturing with incredulity at him and gold confetti rains down on both. Now that's… not exactly comedy, but at least I'm not the one being screamed at.
So call it a wide miss on the humor. Production is also rather mediocre, or maybe that's all the yelling reaction faces and how any time anything happens, they need to show it three more times in quick succession to extra-react to it speaking. But what does it have? Rap. During the big non-wizard fight towards the end, the hip-hop kicks in to show how Cool and With It they are. While still going "AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" mind you. Even the ED starts out by yelling "CUSTARD! CHOCOLATE! CHOUX CREAM! AAAAAAAAAAHHHH!" because we have to fixate on something and repeat it into the ground. We wouldn't want to lose the main thrust of the show after all. Jump comedy, ladies and gentlemen. Accept no substitutions.

These people use magic to wipe their asses, but someway some bent coins surprises and scares them…
