Magical Destroyers #04 — Living in the Past

How do you do, fellow kids?

Impressions:

There's something oddly appropriate about the 2000s otaku squad being all pasty indignant dudes, angry at the young otaku for not appreciating all that they did and the sacrifices they made. Not that I would trust any anime to not be gross about a 35 year old cosplayer, but… yeah. It was, unfortunately, very much a filler episode of making some bad jokes. Let's do more of Pink ODing on steroids to beat up children and less on Blue having an orgasm contest against kids forced to crossdress in bikinis against their will while his parents get nosebleeds from it.

No message or moving the plot/characters here though. Just a random roving bunch of 40 year old otaku showing up to have essentially a beach episode and rant about how things were different Back In The Day. Even the not-Gundam they brought to life at the start, most obvious Chekhov's gun in the world, barely ended up being more than a brief passing gag. As a dedicated curmudgeon and disliker of the loud youngs, always rambling about how things used to be better, you might think I'd be a kindred spirit to them, but I've always found the superfans annoying, no matter the era, and just going "Wow! A VHS! I love that stuff!" That's absolutely not speaking my language.
