Mega Moose #28 — Magical Baby Saves the World Again

March 31st, 2023

Is there anything the magic baby can't do?

Impressions:

So… Queen of Blades Arshem take the fleet to the Xel'naga, flares her inner pokemon at them, and they go "Whoa. That sure is a pokemon, but you know what's really hype? That magical alien baby. Let's come back in a couple decades." And then they just piss off to parts unknown. Then Arshem I guess just turns off the angst mode, stops being haunted by megalomaniacal ghosts, which magically reveals to her that Yamato was brought back to life and dumped in the middle of the desert. So ends her tale. Apparently. Meanwhile, the space baby has decided to become a toddler in an afternoon, and a couple years later is a mecha pilot. Which is great because there's an evil cult out for revenge plus another dude unearthing forbidden pokemon and mechs.

Almost all this episode was spent trying to pitch its already announced sequel/continuation, which, again, has already been announced as expanding to the rest of the world for god only knows what reason. I'm not even sure how the absolutely nonsense soap opera escapades translates to multiplayer gacha nonsense. Or maybe it translates better because all these weird-ass twists and changes are actual story arcs and not blasted through as weird-ass asides before characters and threads are tossed in the bin. Even if it comes back as an animated series though, I'm about 98% certain this is where I part ways with it. It's been… an experience… if nothing else, even if this back half was far inferior to the first, but I'm hardly surprised the entire English world has completely ignored its existence.

Tomorrow kicks off the next season with four shows, including both the heaven-hell ones. At least we're not starting with the cheat powers.

Ey, this series had an start a development (someway) and ending, that already puts it above most shows to me. It was a passable ride.
