The Angel Next Door #01 — Improper Pizza Physics

It's even more upsetting on the closeup.
Impressions:
Yes, the pizza thing is the most notable part of the episode. It's another one of those transparent wish fulfillment things where the most popular girl in school spontaneously devotes her entire life to some mopey guy because he did one nice thing one time. It's a good thing the fedora never caught on with these types in Japan. Every single scene is him saying she doesn't need to do it, and she always replies that she's doing it because she feels like it. Cooking, shopping, more cooking, cleaning, more more cooking, etc. It all blends into white noise as the same conversation is repeated over and over, only occasionally lightly broken up when she pauses her line for a moment to sadly look to the side, indicating that she too is troubled by some angst that only wholly devoting herself to him can assuage.
I've seen this episode/show a hundred times before, and it's not getting any better. It's certainly more on the angsty side than the chirpy ones where the wife-from-nowhere is a fox spirit or just some family obligated maid, and I have the feeling that depending on how much porn you consume, many people will have seen this schtick many many times more than I. At least we seem to have moved past thirty year old men bringing back 15 year olds to be their live in wives. That was a particularly weird trend for a while. Hell if I could tell you what the hook of this particular one is though. There's no big character moment or epiphany giving an emotional high or promising heartfelt story or character growth to come. There is just the title, and about five scenes reiterating it.
