Tale of the Outcasts #01 — My Furry Friend

Please stop slapping each other's tentacles.
Impressions:
For how much emphasis is put here on Robert's Rules of Being a Demon™, they don't make a ton of sense. Demons instantly die if they help humans without a contract, which is usually a soul, because that extends their lives, except they can also be immortal. And helping humans includes defending themself from other demons. So what can they take other than souls? Eyes, or hands which are apparently equivalent to a soul. Doesn't matter what it is. Just need something to half-assedly tell the invisible rule book that they were paid. Also, the main one is immortal, bored of life, and wants to die, but use this out to do so? Nah.
I'm somewhat inclined to go slightly easy on this just because I'd still put it as above average in this season's offerings, even if it was a pretty weak episode. It at least introduced the characters, premise, and some faint whiff of a story. However, the girl is way too much perfection incarnate, a relationship between a 12 year old and an immortal centuries old lion is weird and creepy, and the tonal jump between all sparklies, silly faces, and goofiness, to being sold to a sex torture dungeon enthusiast was a bit much. This on top of the action being on the low end of mediocre, which still puts it far above virtually all of the cheat power things. But good god, is that a low bar to clear.
