Kubo Won’t Let Me Be a Nobody #01 — Creativity in Art

Sure you don't want to try to draw a second image of her?

Impressions:

In the olden days of ten years ago, there'd at least be some kind of inciting reason to throw two people together, whether it's because they discovered the dark secret of "having a job" or "having a hobby," or the more esoteric "became one's hand." It at least came with a reason, and a reason means having to come up with some kind of story element for the whole deal. Nowadays, though, apparently that's too much work, so why bother? Just explain how the main character is a inert golem, that the girl is popular, and have her crawl all over him like an octopus for twenty minutes with a deep blush the entire time while he bellyaches about a girl paying attention to him. Bloody grand.

It's hard to call anything about this romance when both characters here have as much personality as warmed over porridge. He exists solely to monologue about how much she's flirting with him. She exists solely to helicopter around him. So there's nothing in the way of story either. It's just another show that exists solely on how easily manipulated the audience is by blushing and the sound of a female voice whispering. I frankly find overt fanservice less insulting to my intelligence. At least they're honest and lean in to being trashy. This is little different to me than a show that tries to exist solely off panty shots.

Eh I bet it’s something along the lines of how he helped her out some time ago and she instantly fell in love with him.
