Akiba Maid War #05 — Cult of the Lamb

So… they just left that sheep with a bunch of corpses?
Impressions:
I'm aware that strong cohesion in the setting is not what the show is going for, but at some point, it really becomes malpractice for the other maid groups to not be aware that every single other one that has picked a fight with Club Pig ends up massacred. Likewise, it's a bit weird for them to be decrying that they're in massive business crushing debt one week, and then the next week, are scrimping and saving for a week to buy a $20 Walmart cake. Plus, I'm still waiting for the 'helpful' street maid to either be shot in the face, or be revealed to be the evilest one of them all. That's a Chekhov's gun that they're apparently going to sit on until the very end probably.
Anyway, Nagomi wants to celebrate Ranko's birthday, but all the others call it stupid because they want a surprise party instead, so the two stumble on another maid group with a serial killer targeting other maids with her birthday. And also throws a sheep into the 1970s Bond cheesy death trap before wandering away. The 'emotional' part was Nagomi standing up for passive-aggressive bitchiness over calling Ranko old, which… uh, find a better angle for the audience insert, please. Something a little less banal. Also, how do you even mistake tomato juice for blood? Both have very strong smells. It also seems like a lot of expensive tomato juice to waste when five minutes ago, you were content to club them in the head with a lead pipe.

I don’t use Mary Sue all that often, especially since it’s become far too overused and used inappropriately in recent years imo, but Ranko really is becoming the definition of an actual Mary Sue. Everyone fawns over her, she solves every major problem the other maids face, the whole story is revolving around her. This is exactly why this show doesn’t work, because even the creators are too busy jerking off to her and begging to be stepped on to focus on anything else.
