This Healer’s a Headache #03 — Toxic Shock

April 24th, 2022

A little soon to be repeating episodes.

Semi-Impressions:

This was almost an entire episode of running into a mushroom and then it sitting offscreen for them to do the same schtick and recycled one-liners as the last couple episodes; practically a replay of episode 1 with a somewhat different monster and without the introductions, right down to throwing an evil 'healing' spell. Occasionally, the monster would spit (not) poison just to remind us that it was there, but one action every five minutes is not enough to base an entire twenty minute improv routine on.

Okay then. Time for the seasonal "I am willing to give up on this four day span so time to struggle to find something else to do," which given my recent history, invariably leads to not much of anything. I'll give Birdie Wing and… I can't even remember what else airs in that span another look, but it's seeming pretty dire. No, the Girl Game episode that also airs today is not an option. I did skim through it since this episode was so tiresome, and it was twenty straight minutes of the protagonist being literally invulnerable while all the rich snobs cursed at his undeserving superiority for not being rich and dressing mech-nice like them. Hell, they secretly put a bomb on the mech and the plan to deal with it was to… just ignore it because it did no damage. Twenty straight minutes of that. Yeah, that ain't an option.

‘stay a while and listen’ should be an achievement for watching this.

Yeah, I don’t know if this show is actually improve, but even Whose Line Is It, Anyway? Felt like it had more stakes to their episodes. Hell, Home Movies was animated with an improve script and it actually had plots.

This feels like Melissa McCarthy tried to make her own version of Home Movies, and the characters natter on incessantly in desperate search of a joke.

And I assume the appeal of the show is the guest voices, which is why all 12 episode’s guests are named prominently before every episode.
