Dark Wahrheit #02 — Dudes Standing Around Tables

October 20th, 2020

If only they had UFOTable's budget, they might have circled them.

Impressions:

I somehow just completely spaced on covering this show's first episode, but it was honestly pretty boring and super low budget. I felt bad for the director though. They were clearly trying in the action scene with the choreography, but you could tell by all the missing frames and constantly blobby people (what I believe the kids call QUALITY artwork) that the budget simply was not there in any shape or form. I didn't feel too bad for the director though, because the rest of the episode was just dudes standing around talking.

Which is a perfect segue to this episode, which was nothing but dudes standing around talking. There's a war supposedly going on. There are mages, and guns, and swords, and people who deflect bullets with swords. Someone's imprisoned and a daring plan is hatched to plunge into the belly of the beast and spring them, and we're going to be conveying all of this through… conversations. Dudes standing around a table and/or walking down halls. Oh, but this hall is a sewer. Well, then that's definitely more exciting. I'm hooked. I can't wait for when they up the ante and walk down a corridor.

I did wonder if you wrote the wrong tag on the first ep and that is why it was not in the catalog so I went by manually and looks like you really have not written a post about it.

The show seems only mildly better than regular game adaptations. script quality wise I suspect it will be on Fairy Gone level.Knowing as much the showrunners seem to have put in the flash forward at the start of the show saying “something interesting might happen, just wait 12 eps”

I legitimately thought I had watched the first episode and just skipped over it. I think I had it confused with King’s Raid. Not my finest moment.
