What a depressing episode.

Impressions:

This was another episode that just plain forgot it was supposed to have jokes. The species this week was magical clones of a wizard who would roleplay as the perfect wife for a few days. It was particularly odd for the human version since his total sexual bliss was apparently just being lightly domestically fussed over. You could at least say that the magical stuff for the elf and angel, or extra sadism stuff for the halfling are kind of specialized super fetishes, or slaking of the intellectual lusts if you will, but even so, none of that is all that unusual for anime in general.

It wasn't a parody or sendup over how pathetic it was either, or how superficial and empty it all is. It was the best thing ever to… have someone pretend to be in love with you for a few days… while a telepathically linked exact clone of her is simultaneously blowing a dude under the table five feet away. It just boggles my mind that they wouldn't even casually look at that, not even for a "Oops, we accidentally got our clones switched" gag. It's all just "having a doting girlfriend/wife is the best thing ever" without the slightest acknowledgement of how messed up everything around it is.

I imagine three days of non-stop sex with awesome meals in between would help you neglect to have those kind of pesky negative thoughts.
