Street Corner Demon #02 — Born to Run

July 18th, 2019

I see our animation budget dropped off a cliff too.

Impressions:

I couldn't muster the will to watch the dumbbell 'comedy' yesterday, so I told myself that I had to suffer through this one or resign myself to another season of a 3-day midweek break the whole way. It's looking like the latter's going to win. I feel like this show needs to either give Yuko some kind of win, even if just a pyrrhic one, or be being far far crueller to her. The Tom/Jerry, Coyote/Roadrunner, or if we want to go more anime, Milky Holmes/Arsene (season 1 only) or Keroro/Entire World dynamic doesn't have much going for it if you're going to be keeping the plots, execution, and comeuppance firmly at 1/10 on damn near any possible scale you can think of. She could've actually succeeded at bulking up, only to become useless in some other way. That's where it should be starting, not where it's struggling to get to as it goes through the same motions and jokes in an only very slightly different situation or place.

off topic but have you heard about the tragedy in Kyoto animation studios? this was horrible thing to happen

The most entertaining thing about the dumbbell anime is machio because they cut a lot of the fanservice so read the manga instead.

I typed “wreck her momo” into a group chat no less than five times watching this episode so no question which side of this fence I fall on
