I really hope she accidentally vaporized the dumb one.

Impressions:

It's really weird that they'd (thankfully) forego CGI for the mechs, but couldn't be bothered to draw and animate gears, so brought out the CGI for that. I also can't help feeling that the mechs are adding absolutely nothing to the setting and it would do much better without them. Lord knows there have been only about fifty three thousand two hundred and nine magical girl battle royale shows in the last few years, and I'm not sure what putting them in dopey faux-SD mechas accomplishes. Maybe making a pitch to be included in the next SRW. I'm also not much closer to figuring out how seriously we're supposed to be taking all the twisted up melodramatic rage faces. I suspect not very, given the occasional jokes and slapstick. There's some standard godawful direction making it worse too. How dare you fight back in any way!!!?!??!?!?! RARRRRRRRRRGGHHH!!! 

Like I mentioned in the season preview, the first half of this episode has been up for weeks, and the second half is halft having them quite literally sit down and explain that it's your standard magical girl battle royale with what will undoubtedly turn out to be a Monkey's Paw wish at the end of it, and half the obligatory overly long transformation sequence and one-shotting of Tweedle Dum. Then the next episode preview goes "Eh, screw everything in the first episode, it's high school friendship time." Really not feeling like we've got a cohesive package here, guys.
