Release the Spyce #04 — Budgetary Struggles

October 27th, 2018

You'd think they'd have a bigger living stipend.

Impressions:

It's nice that it got away from Momo considering how sick I am of her. The hope is that it would fill the space with something else though. It seems like it's going to be the Mei/Fuu origin story at the start, but then we drop that to mostly do FRIENDS FOREVER. I guess it's slightly different from the last two episodes of DOES HER BEST, but everything is kept too childish and petty to take seriously, and continues to come off as bizarre. You have a the billion dollar secret hideout and fighting cannibal druglords and posing as prostitutes. I think we can come up with something with a little more weight to it than wasting money on candy and both of them tantruming that the other doesn't understand their feelings, especially when their feelings are just "I care about you."

Maybe it would've been more palatable if the conflict had arisen during a mission and not from a combination of spending one's busking money on candy and sneaking up on her while she had a weapon drawn to go "WHATCHA DOING THERE, HUH!?" You're both idiots. Or maybe if Fuu's screwup had led to something more than what was apparently a three minute visit to the hospital so the sappy montage (with saccharine insert song, obviously) wouldn't have been so corny. Also, I guess, there was a masochist running around with the power of, uh, masochism. It was hardly even tied into the rest of the episode for that matter, which is another strike against it. The whole thing was a mish-mash.

2 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Neclord X says:

Didn’t we have this very same episode last week?

    • Aroduc says:

Last week was Momo and the blue one with the lesson “KEEP ALWAYS DOING YOUR BEST”

This week was… two different ones with the lesson “YAY FRIENDS”

      The differences are subtle.
