HaruKana Receive #06 — Sweat Budget
August 10th, 2018
But at least nobody learned anything or did anything.
Impressions:
So, let me get this straight… and that phrase might as well be the rallying cry of the season. They invented this whole tournament arc just for a single match? And they just skipped out of the rest of the tournament so they could go on to… another tournament? I just… I just don't understand what the hell any of these writers are even thinking. That's on top of the melodrama of the week being getting all weepy over just losing a game. My god, Japan. Suck it up. God help us if they had shown the protagonists actually lose whatever match it is they lost or this would've probably been a six episode arc.
Anyway, it turns out that hitting nothing but pokeys was in the "all part of the master plan" category, because why score points now when you can play the long game in what's normally a 30-60 minute match? The animators must've been jumping at the chance to draw sweat because the animation took a weird uptick. And that's it. That's the whole everything of this week. There's no reason this needed to be a goddamned three episode arc, especially if they're just slamming the reset button at the end of it.

What I’m hoping for is they just don’t have the tournament and go to six episodes of faffing about to get a better feel for the characters and then maybe do a tournament once we actually care about them for more than aesthetic reasons.
Kind of like what original Saki was going for, except with less shots of little girl butts and Gonzo doing bad Gonzo things.
