And a total non-ending from this one too. The whalery continues, but with some of them thinking about their pasts, and the little tiff between a couple characters has been resolved thanks to… it being the ending of the show, I guess? The characters just needing to go off an have a cry? Whatever.

Season preview for winter will be up probably Tuesday. It's done, except for the pithy comments with pixels, which takes about 10 times longer than merely looking up and synthesizing a wide array of terrible promos. At least there are blessedly few idol shows.

Final Thoughts

As much as this likes to drone on about things eating souls, or the countless deaths heaped upon our poor teenagers, nothing ever really matters. This is a show that literally killed half the characters it focused on as a purge, and literally the next episode, everyone was puttering along as if nothing had happened, except occasionally to get mopey. And even that's probably giving it too much credit because there are maybe three actual events in the entire thing, all of which the entire protagonist cast play a completely passive role too. Hell, the big arc of them attacking the other whaleboat consisted of Team B being slaughtered while Team A went else to… be slaughtered because they were especially stupid, but also get a metaphysical exposition dump, which was then all but dropped, except to serve as an excuse for why their new magical pet was so magical. The magical pet didn't even do a goddamned thing or serve any plot point. It was just something pretty to look at, which about sums up the entire show. Pointless and stupid, but occasionally looks sort of pretty.
