Fate Project – New Years Special #01 — Immobile Gaming
December 31st, 2017
They sure captured the player side of sitting in a chair.
This was a two hour broadcast. One hour was purely cast/staff crap, largely dealing with Apocrypha. The other hour was a set of three episodes; one 30 minute serious Grand Order one, one 12 minute goofy GO one, one 12 minute insipid OG one. Let's start with the serious one, or "Moonlight Lostroom" as it tells its classmates to call it while they roll their eyes and remember to be extra nice to it so they're spared when the shooting begins.
Impressions:
Man, if this is a bellwether for how the yet another series is going to be like, you can count me the hell out right now. There's some running in the halls, I suspect specifically to show off Christmas decoration in deference to the season, a few action poses (not, not action scenes), and then they spend the next twenty minutes sitting around a table, melodramatically expositing on. Sometimes, there's a clock pendulum. Sometimes they flashback to some other time they were sitting around a table delivering exposition or extolling each other to not give up in the face of adversity.
Eventually, the bitchiest one leaves, giving way to something that could be mistaken for an action scene if it had been better lit. Or lasted more than 30 seconds. But it contained Saber for four seconds, and isn't that the true spirit of a mobile gacha game? Note tha tthe exposition never stopped during all that time. Maybe you need to be a GO fan, or know the first thing about it, in order to appreciate this, but I'm going to guess that even if you are, it's not for the awesome story and exposition, which is just about all that this brought. I already know that the goofy mini-episode does better, and that the OG episode somehow manages to do worse, so let's move on so we can call this day a wrap.
