Sengoku Night Blood #01 — Shiny Happy People

October 3rd, 2017

Christ, they're shiny.

Impressions:

The big surprise to me is that they hid the player insert non-character in all the promos. It's not like she showed any personality or played any part in the episode though. Could've replaced her with a bucket of KFC and if anything, it would've made more sense and been at least 25% sexier. The first half of the episode is spent on the standard Tour of Bishies to reassure fans of the source game that all bishies are indeed here and will be attended to in due time. That takes priority over things like "Having a story," obviously, which is why despite spending only half the episode on 'story' as UQ Holder or Black Clover, it also only got as far in the introduction of the central element as the latter did. Twenty minutes each all well spent, dumbfaces.

I don't have an answer for why the brightness was turned all the way up though. It made my eyes hurt and I welcomed when things turned to night so someone could start screwing with the contrast knobs instead. My favorite moments are when a bunch of soldiers started yelling out their plans while standing still, but for some reason, there were speedlines over them. That was up there with the action tornado that was about three frames looped before they had to cut away, exhausted from the effort of pretending like there was animation present. Dare for greatness, guys. Dare for greatness.
