Masamune’s Revenge #01 — School of Douchewads

Especially the creators of this show.
Impressions:
There's something more than a little appalling about this show's attitude towards women. They have this girl who's unilaterally a bitch to everybody but select members of her inner circle in public, but because she's mean about turning down someone who likes her purely for superficial reasons, she somehow deserves being stalked and assaulted on the streets. How dare she be so mean while we're busy objectifying the hell out of her? So our protagonist comes to both their rescues by stopping the attack. The guy was actually just a harmless gump and she now ovulates for our hero. All this is part of his plan to stalk and humiliate her for not being nice enough to him. And this lives and dies on the protagonist because nothing ever leaves his brain or his incessant, bland, painful internal monologue, so when all you have are a bunch of baleful superficial twatcakes, the writers don't even realize that, and nobody's doing any goddamned thing, what the hell is there to grab onto?
If you're having trouble finding the humor in the above, so am I. The only thing approaching it anywhere in the episode came during one of the stalking sessions where she got upset because he found out she eats more than people think she does, and that embarrasses her. And if you can't find the joke in that, then I'm probably not making the same idiot face or playing circus music to indicate that something funny is taking place. If it's supposed to be an indictment of superficiality, it's screwing that up too, although honestly, I can't really say at this point that it's really any different from basically any other show. Oh, girls all fawn over the protagonist because he's somewhat handsome and he explains to nobody that he's somewhat awkward about it. That's so tremendously different from the shows where they fawn over him and he's awkward about it because he's the only male pilot of a ham sandwich, or has magic ham sandwich kissing powers, or simply just exists.

I wish I had a ham sandwich.
