Matoi the Sacred Slayer #04 — Big Balls

October 25th, 2016

The pistol was the most impressive attack thing this week.

Impressions:

If you don't have the budget to make magical girls being stalked by an evil murderous clown work, then what is anybody giving you money for at all? Oh right, the angsty flashbacks. How could anybody forget the great importance of angsty flashbacks? You know what would have made this have more impact and made the character more sympathetic? If it happened in the present. Right in front of all of us. As part of the ongoing story. Not awkwardly shoved in as a dream to explain questions that nobody asked. Oh, but wait, then we wouldn't have context for why Girl B blushed and spontaneously ovulated before they sat around and discussed their feelings followed by yet more angsty flashbacks.

It wouldn't be until about 16 minutes into the episode before it was actually time to resume where the last episode's cliffhanger left off and they'd fight the clown and pal. Who were summarily pretty much one-shot. The goon went down within a minute from being stabbed, and then the clown did a big energy-ball thing that sent them back to reality, whereupon Matoi did her own inverse spirit ball thing, so the clown stood there unmoving for a minute or two before getting insta-gibbed. I think he actually attacked them a whole once the entire episode. Way to waste a clown, Japan.

Next Episode:

They go shopping. Ugh.
