Taboo Tattoo #11 — The Mating Habits of Snakes
September 12th, 2016
Thanks for the weird lecture about snakes and penises.
Impressions:
Another relatively solid action episode, and compared to other fare this season, spectacular, although a lull in the fight with the protagonist embedded on a wall is kind of a weird cliffhanger for the final episode. Which isn't to say that it wasn't obvious where things could've been improved. Top of that list would be all the yammering, especially when they preface it with crap like "I don't have time to waste with you." Maybe we should stop giving speeches then. It would've also worked much better to have all the side action last week and this week focused entirely on Seigi, not to mention they pulled a couple more random meatbags out of nowhere to big intros just to have them unceremoniously get reduced to hunks of flesh again, while that one weird guy vs spike girl continues to miraculously survive. I kind of like him, mind you, and don't mind the show's willingness to murder just about anybody and everybody on a whim, but he's been ripe for a heroic sacrifice for multiple weeks now. Also, I think they just left Lisa out in the middle of the wasteland next to that one girl who killed Seigi's girlfriend.
Seigi vs Cal was obviously the meat of the episode though. Again, it's nice to see a protagonist who has his head together. Angsty, but for good reason, and instead of wallowing, is putting that anger and frustration to good use. It still feels like something that should've come a little earlier for him to have some kind of cathartic moment and overcome it, but I'll take the little victories as far as writing in anime's concerned. Everything about the princess is still pretty dumb/bad though, especially the long speech about how she's not becoming a god, she's becoming a god, followed not long after by more of her rambling about how everything was all as planned. I'm willing to overlook your nonsense for the most part, show, but it's really hard when you're trying your best to get me to focus on it and think about it. Better to just stab some more people and move on.

At least I’ll never have to ask the uncomfortable question of how Snakes fuck.
BTW, did we know before that Colonel Sanders was Izzy’s Father? Because if not, that seemed kind of out of the blue(sy).
