Macross Δ #19 — Pure 100% Unfiltered Infodump

I throw around terms like "absolute dross" quite often, but this episode was astoundingly bad.

Impressions:

This was literally just a 21 minute info dump from start to finish with about one minute of the runner-up-in-the-harem-since-episode-one mincing over her feelings without ever actually saying anything. All I can imagine is that it's some kind of a hail mary to fans of previous series. Talk about those for a little while and since this is a trash fire, don't bother animating the episode at all. Christ, I can't even remember the last time something important actually happened on screen and wasn't just some random grunting/flying around which then needed to have five minutes explaining why it was important and how the impacts of it all happened off screen somewhere else, let alone any goddamned thing directly affecting the characters or their interactions. And now an episode that is nothing but that. Wunderbar.

    This is making me miss Macross 7 and I bloody hated Macross 7.

    This is making me miss Macross Frontier. At least there was a somewhat decent love triangle happening there. Mikumo gets more screen time than Mirage at this point and she’s more interesting too.

    If you’ve never watched Macross you won’t get much out of what they’re saying, but if you have, this was a really interesting episode.

    The problem is that all the characters suck, you’re given no reason to care about them and the only one with potential was the char clone and he peaked when he bumped off his love interest messer cuckold.

    I actual saw most of Macross 7, Delta died with ep. 1 for me. Both are shit.
