This season is already turning into an assault on my ears.

Impressions:

If you accept that premise that the protagonist is a blithering imbecile with zero object permanence, then maybe the over-narration starts to make a little more sense. Lord knows that the show was making a good case for that once it finally decided that it was done on its parade of vaginas and it was time to start introducing some kind of plot… before it shoved two more mini-vagina carriers into the mix… who are both more nasally than the other and who spend their entire screentime screaming over each other and the protagonist. If you want to damage my ears that badly, I can just shove a pencil into them.

I'd still be hardpressed to call that little dream world quasi-fight an introduction though. The protagonist continued to spend his entire time narrating and melodramatically screaming instead of being any kind of actor in his own story, while CGI things flailed at each other in a cacophony of sound. It wasn't looking awful even at its worst to that point, but it ain't impressing either. That's certainly closer to having some kind of anything than the first half's vomiting of characters all over the screen, but plenty of other shows have started where this only managed to amble its way to after 40 minutes with the stumbling into a dreamworld and magical girlfriend fighting a monster. I'm hard pressed to say that it did anything at all of worth in that span besides the lazy handjob of reassurance that someone's favorite character or archetype had not gone unforgotten.
