Battery #01 — ARE YOU READY FOR SOME BASEBALL!?

Because apparently everyone in the show is pretty ambivalent about it.
Impressions:
I don't usually mention voice acting much because it's one of those things you can generally assume a basic level of competence in, but good god, was it distractingly awful. It's not even like (most of) these people are amateurs either, so I'm going to guess they all recorded their lines in different rooms with the only direction being "sound as flat and bored as possible at all times." Coming from slapstick to this was like being buried in a mountain of sludge. I particularly 'liked' the moving-in part, where it was a banal monotone conversation over shots of feet, stairs, walls, and more feet.
If I'm harping on about the voice acting, that means that there's so very little else going on with the characters or story. This thing's heart would probably burst from excitement if it got in the same room as a sugar cube. The silence was also a bit deafening at times, although I'd be hardpressed whether or not I'd call that a bad thing when the few times it did decide to add a background track, that was deafening too. Days took the glory of youth way too far and ended up corny, but this is the opposite direction and then some. Well, except for the terrible animation and art. They certainly have that in common.

I loved Cross Game, and this is certainly no Cross Game is just a borefest devoid of any emotion whatsoever. As mentioned in another review, this commits a biggest sin that being bad, it’s BORING.
