Alderamin #02 — Kneeling

And screw your magical pets too.

Impressions:

I had today off, so I figured I might as well do a more full post, but hell if I know what to say new about this episode. The first was a nonstop stream of talking heads doing character introductions and exposition. This episode cut part of that and was just a nonstop stream of talking heads doing exposition. Even the little bit where characters actually did something besides jabber at each other wasn't handled well because all the crap that would necessitate no-quarter-given killing of a patrol is just lipservice before they just sail right off again. Particularly when they then interrogate him as he lies there slowly and tearfully dying. What exactly were we going for here? The horrors of war, one-sidedly inflicted by the protagonists on others? Or that the protagonists are a bunch of sociopathic dicks?

Ballsy MCs able to kill = still complaining

There’s no pleasing you, is there?

There’s a rich tapestry of possibilities in between “sobbing helplessly in a corner” and “executing someone unprovoked.”
