Re:Zero #08 — A Tenacious Dedication to Nothing

And stupidity. Nothing and stupidity.
Impressions:
So, after three or four episodes of faffing around, wasting time, wallowing in melodrama, and flirting with imbeciles, he's finally ready to take action. And that action is… faffing around, wasting time, wallowing in melodrama, and flirting with imbeciles. This garbage arc continues to go goddamned nowhere and be centered around characters who have less than 10 brain cells among them to share. Which, you might remember, is pretty much the same as every single goddamned episode in this goddamned arc.
They seem to be trying to throw up the premise that all he needs to feel enough, but even if that was sufficient, which it sure the hell is not, it's not anchored to anything. There's not struggle. There's no attempt to change his fate. There's no antagonist or even conflict to overcome. Nobody's doing anything. There is nothing here. What is one supposed to say about this episode? It sure had another montage? And he sure flirted with the brainless twits the same as the last month? This time he was overcome by emotion from nothing after trying nothing was even more special than the last five hundred and ninety eight times? The only movement on the plot front is one character pulling some random factoid out of their ass, apropos of nothing, that maybe they'll get to next week.
