Stray Dogs #02 — The Element of Surprise
April 13th, 2016
How great was the season finale of iZombie last night?
Impressions:
Well, Wednesday was this show's to lose and it did a spectacular job of completely screwing the pooch in just about every way. I think my favorite was having multiple shout, and then do a little summoning sequence for close to 15 seconds, along with watching everyone react to it, as a 'surprise' attack, having supposedly distracted the faux bomber. Surprise has long since left the scene, guys. An entire commercial fits in between the time they yell that he's distracted and the time he shoots his stupid little grapple gun. That would also be the entirety of the action this week. Summoning a gun. So… even less than last week's paltry bit. And you know what would have taken 15 seconds less time? Using a non-magic gun. Or a non-magic grappling hook.
The rest of it was the same obnoxious yelling, overreactions, and padding with exposition as the first episode. Even something as simple as a bomb counting down needed to be not only shown, but then announced to the audience what was going on, and you thought just falling on a grenade was something that could be done and people would understand? Hells no. We first need to flashback to explaining that magic will help that work as opposed to basic physics or something a little more sensical like taking the 10 seconds or so to toss it behind the desk and use that instead of curling up around it like a hamster, then have our simpering doormat imbecile of a protagonist wonder why he's doing it. We're all wondering that. You should probably not be calling attention to it.

My first instinct for dealing with a time bomb would be to just leave instead of using my body as a shield.
