Black Corpse #02 — Fist Beats Missiles
April 14th, 2016
Of course it does.
Impressions:
I guess somewhat better than the first in that there was less totally obvious padding and blank space, or maybe they just did a better job of threading it through the entire episode instead of frontloading it. Not that the pacing problem suddenly got fixed. It was basically just the second half of the first episode again, but with everyone having mechs and the girl being a genius mech co-pilot, because of course she is. She's a Japanese teenager. A screaming Japanese teenager by PA Works, so that's like, extra double terrible on the writing scale.
On the other hand, involving the godawful female lead more directly in affairs just brings out how terrible she is. You're in the middle of fighting a giant robot army from space who is shooting and slicing up a city. Is now really the time to ask what someone is fighting for? Can we not just assume that the ones rampaging through the city and murdering entire trains full of people are bad? And that some people might be against that kind of thing? No, apparently not. Because apparently this needs to be a point of drama in every single Japanese action show.

As soon as I realized that the teen was going to be the main character I bailed on this p.o.s.
