Japan, do you even know how clothing works?

Impressions:

I really don't understand this episode. 'Dying' to the Mook of the Week is a tremendously bizarre place to have an obnoxiously long (as in any length at all) reminiscing bit, complete with tears and montage, before being brought right back to life. It seems like the kind of dumbass thing showmakers love to do in moronic attempts to pat themselves on the back and/or convince the audience at the last second that things totally were emotional in a naked attempt to yank at sentimentality and heart strings. It seems like it was uprooted from the end of the season, or maybe even the previous episode as the sort of end of an arc, and awkwardly stuck in here, about 2/3rds of the way through. I guess at least the schmuck died. That's the closest thing to him facing any real adversity or actually 'struggling' in any way for the entire show's run to date, and even then, all he did was get slashed and then be mopey for a minute or two.

Anyway, about the only interesting thing other than that the episode had was Darkness's boob pockets in her winter clothing, and I'm really stretching the definition of interesting here. When it wasn't being maudlin in the second half, it remained content to repeat the same jokes, in slightly different situations. I'm sure I'm giving it more leeway than it deserves based on how completely devoid of character or wit or anything Phantom World has been in recent weeks, but getting all sappy over itself is not the way to go to fix its problems with running the jokes into the ground and every single character existing basically in their own little never-changing, never-really-interacting-with-each-other bubbles.
