Aquarion LOGOS #12 — Big Evil Head

September 21st, 2015

Oh no! Slowly drifting things that are easily batted away!

Impressions:

Well, a step in the correct direction, but they really should’ve done a lot more with Akira’s recklessness/lack of teamwork/screw your personal feelings stuff being what messed everyone and everything up instead of it being the most deadly attack they’ve faced yet, a collective inability of people to bat at gibberish floating around in the air. I briefly entertained the hope that Akira was the one hit by the bad words, and everyone sacrificing themselves and getting killed for it, ruining his messiah complex, was his own little internal struggle against it, but that kind of ‘twist’, as common as it is in any number of shows, is clearly something far beyond what this writing is capable of.

Unfortunately, he remains ever the ubermensch, and it’s apparently supposed to be Maia, who was barely involved in the episode at all who had the epiphanic moment at the end… to be resolved next week. Which is another gigantic toad of a problem squatting over the arc here. Really, guys? What’s going to happen next after our big triumphant music starts playing and we come to terms and shout out our feelings? Or are we going to handwave over that and toss out some more floating gibberish at the start of next week again and pretend like the big floating head is still winning?
