Braves of the Seven Flowers #08 — Projectile Vomit
August 23rd, 2015

Oh no! They’re looming! And looming… and looming… and still looming…
Again, this’ll be back to Saturdays as normal with a two episode broadcast (so delayed a little bit) on the 29th.
Impressions:
After an action-packed, although purely eyecandy first minute and a half or so, I thought that we might be back on track, but no such luck. Almost as soon as there was a lull in the battle, the blathering started again and it took about 18 minutes for it to stop, involving a striptease from Adlet at one point, which despite Hanz’s protests, he was totally into. Yada yada yada, Swamp Kid attacked them for teaming up… but not until next week! We had to show extra vomit from multiple angles after all.
Mostly though, it was just yet more standing around, discussing the situation. Another episode that could’ve easily been done in about a third the time if they simply stopped pissing around and just went right to Swamp Pants. Even just a quarter if you decided that you wanted to animate the swamp blobs instead of a little tagline to Adlet vs Hanz by just having Swamp Pants go after them the moment they teamed up instead of letting them poke at some rocks and theorycraft some more based on no real new information. The most egregious abuse was probably how the swamp monsters were spat up and simply loomed for about two straight minutes until they could call that a ‘cliffhanger,’ but Rabbithead arguing with Angst Bra Knight took a close second. Normally, when you include something in the pre-episode introductory summary, it means it’s going to be relevant for the episode. Here though, it was simply “Remember how they argued about Adlet? Well, they’re going to argue about him for another minute or two.” Not actually interact with anything or anybody in the episode, just continue their conversation. Can’t imagine how the narrative could’ve possibly worked without that.

Japan needs new sound effects. The one they use in every single anime now are awful.
