School-Live #03 — Flashback Time! Yay!

July 23rd, 2015

Nothing I love more than retroactively trying to add development!

Impressions:

Oh boy. Flashbacks. You know how I adore those. Not only flashbacks, but reliving the exact same ‘shocking’ scene as last week, so repetition too! Well, this time I guess it did go a little longer, and they kept cutting to black every time shovel met flesh, which I’m not quite sure if it was censorship or if it was a directing trick to leave the gooshy bits to the imagination. I also can’t help but think of Shaun of the Dead and how it handled its beginnings of the zombie outbreak in the early bits. This instead decided to go for cops, choppers, and ambulances tooling about, creepy music, pointing it out, and then dropping everything whatsoever except for a grainy film transition between scenes.

Anyway, it was an episode that didn’t add anything and didn’t progress anything, so… I don’t really know what else there is to say about it. About seventeen minutes of vapid flashback before abruptly jolting back to the present time to have a ‘silly’ bit about camping out, and then laying on the enabling extra thick in the final minutes. And to answer the question of how long are they going to stretch it out, apparently the answer is at least a few more episodes. What fun.

Next Episode:

More flashbacks! Yay!

6 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Paulo27 says:

Is she dead, is she alive, is she a zombie on a leash? What’s her deal?
    Find out never.

  • v1cious says:

The funny part is this was all new material. The only thing that was in the manga was the camping trip, which also changed since Miki wasn’t there originally.

    • Chipp says:

Not really. It’s partially adapted from the Megu-nee’s diary which is an extra for the volume 4.

  • Sanjuro says:

It would have been great if it did that Shaun of the Dead bit when the outbreak started. The teacher could come to school each day not realizing more and more of her students have turned into zombies.
I guess cathat already does that though.

  • The Phantom says:

The teacher is clearly dead all along, only Yuki can see her, the other girls mention the teacher after Yuki, but dont even count her (we got a tent that can fit four enough for all of us… she clearly cant see the teacher and only apologizes after Yuki mentions the teacher), I like this show is very interesting.

well, here in this Episode it is suggested, that She sleeps in a different room, and she is doing Night Patrols
