Where’s the red guy?

I… don’t even want to talk about Ninja Slayer, shorter than expected runtime aside. Remember Dai Shogun? This is worse. Like Inferno Cop if it kept trying to take itself seriously. Now there’s something lying in its promos, mostly to itself. So now, chibi CGI tits bouncing. Oi…

Impressions:

Why do I feel like I’d much rather be watching the Rat slaughter a boatload of various animal people than the rest of the harem putter around the house and explain things? I mean, besides the obvious. Am I supposed to be looking forward to the awful puns? Because they’re puns. Even more unfortunately, the character two thirds of the episode was focused on has the gimmick of being foreign, so she speaks in that obnoxious sing song combined with the even more obnoxious speech tics that they all have, combining to a perfect storm of shrill annoyance on top of the already annoying screaming cat person.

I guess at least it toned down the exposition some, and it kept the background characters (of which there were legion) mostly in the background, which isn’t really an accomplishment, but considering that other shows this season have been on multiple episode tours of even fewer characters with less idea of what they’re doing, I’m calling that a win. It is annoying to have them trot out the “if she loses once, it’s all over” thing. It’s a vain attempt to bring some degree of weight to these ridiculous fights and just tells us how they’re all going to end months ahead of time. It also feels like they could have done a lot more with not-Rhino’s charging schtick. Have they not played a game with a brute that shoulder tackles any time in the last 15 years? You dodge out of the way and let them stun themself on some stage hazard. This didn’t even amount to that. She just automatically won the first time she bothered to attack. Whoopie.

Next Episode:

Rat.

    “Where’s the red guy?”
trying to take CN to court for excluding him from the omniverse cameo.

Yea the whole “lose once and its game over” thing really makes it obvious this show is just gonna boil down to plot armor of the week fights till the Rat finally shows up in the last episode fulfill the same purpose everyone else will. Just with a better budget (i assume) finale.

The CG parts is actually pretty well done at least compared most other ones in anime. Looks like runs off a game engine instead of that half-ass crap where everyone looks and moves like weird robot dolls I just would like to get a little better constructed action out of it though.

Also this show needs more King.
