Death Icecapades #11 — …Not Even Lead Piped?
March 20th, 2015

Boy, the writing has really unraveled this season everywhere.
Impressions:
Is that it? That’s the big mystery that you’ve spent nearly a third of the show on? She was a figure skater, she got hurt, and then she killed herself because she got depressed? Her amnesia goes as far as “I’m going to kill myself” but not “I killed myself” and that’s what made her an inscrutable mystery? I hate to break it to you, Japan, but that doesn’t even rise to Tonya Harding’s level. She’s at least one sex tape and lead pipe, preferably separately, away from that. I guess with how ridiculously they treated murder, treating a depression-suicide like it’s something nobody, not even all-knowing demigods know how to deal with shouldn’t surprise me, but ye gods, people. There were multiple episodes about that storybook, and the only thing relating to her was that she read it and it had skating in it? Is that really it?
The more interesting thing… sort of… would be the Fangirl, but besides being only a few minutes of the episode, it was yet more sadism and still doesn’t work at all with the Kingdom Hearts-esque “Judges have no human emotion/hearts” bit of drivel. It’d also help if they didn’t pin things on a delusional, oblivious fangirl for giving speeches about life having meaning. You’re like, 16, young woman. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Japan’s godawful idol worship nonsense at work again mostly, taking them a bit too creepily seriously and trying to defend it of all things. If you tried to do this kind of schtick with Justin Bieber in a western show, you’d be laughed off the continent.
