Maria the Virgin #06 — Can’t See the Forest Over All These Trees

That way, there’s no more war!
Impressions:
From the beginning of the episode, it seemed like it might be about the armies finally using how predictable she is about interfering with battles, but no, of course not. That’d be far too complicated a concept. Especially not when you can instead have crazy people laughing insanely, their faces twisted, and spinning in circles when they learn that someone’s a virgin. If you want to keep pretending like both sides of this war debate are making decent arguments (they haven’t been), perhaps a good first step is toning down on the mad cackling.
Instead, the plan was to just tell her where and when they were going to be killing an especially large number of people in an ambush and ask her to not do anything. So if you’re playing along from home, the astonishingly nonsensical argument put forth this week was “If we just kill a whole whole bunch of people, the war will be over! That’s what you want!” You’re missing the mountain of corpses because of all the bodies blocking your view, guys. Sure, Maria’s doing it to stop the killing, but you know what’ll win her over? More killing. And this is on the back of just a couple weeks ago putting forth the argument that there will always be war, no matter what. Will you make up your mind? But of course, since this show has about the awareness of a syphilitic pinecone, this is not only enough to send Maria into a funk where she can’t respond at all to this overwhelmingly brilliant argument, and possibly even turn it into a multiple episode arc. Good god. Sit in on a high school debate team and take notes.
Next Episode:
Party time.

I guess World War II in Europe sure didn’t end after the Battle of Berlin, huh? It’s so nonsensical!
Anime cackling? There’s mad cackling in an anime series? Someone warn the police! It’s the first time that has happened in history! I refuse to take any anime with any scene like this seriously!
It’s pointless to discuss this show with you with that attitude.
