Cross Ange #12 — Awesome Slide, Ange

There were… more budget problems than usual this week.
Ange’s off next week for the holidays and will return on January 3rd, same bat time, same bat channel. I think I’ll take the chance to post the preview then since that’ll be exactly one week before the start of the new season… if not for at least one pre-air special. Also, that ofIkkitousen OVA with Shinku is finally out tomorrow, so I guess the bad action quota for Sundays will go filled after all. Assuming it pops up at least. Hopefully it’s less woeful than the last one. Then again, it is Ikkitousen. And has Shinku. That’s two strikes against it already.
Impressions:
Shockingly dull episode, combining the greatest of all storytelling devices, exposition and flashbacks. After sitting in on a conference to an already poor start, the entire middle of the episode was a voice over flashback. Often times, they just stopped animating it altogether, so it was pretty much indistinguishable from a power point presentation or someone’s awful vacation slides on the history of Team Noma that nobody asked for.
Which brings me to the two big twists are that it’s not spelled “norma” like you’d expect, but “noma,” because Sunrise still can’t find the only English dictionary in all of Japan ever since it was lost in 1994, and that the dragons are among us. Not only are they thinking critters being bulldozed into a mass grave, they’re people too! Because they’re apparently shapeshifters and somehow nobody’s ever noticed their corpses turning back into people before now. One would also think you’d notice as you walk down the halls that you have wings, completely fill the hall, can’t turn corners, and have talons scraping along the floor, but you don’t know the dragon life, man.
Next Episode:
Tusk gets a new girlfriend.
