Cross Ange #06 — Generic Maid Episode Type 1B

November 8th, 2014

For girl on girl.

Impressions:

I kept hoping that the maid was secretly there to try to steal Ange’s magic ring, or assassinate her, or something. The alternative, that she was there just because of Japan’s endless obsession with putting maids into everything because they love the idea of a subservient girl who cannot function without an owner, is pretty unexciting for Sunrise, although certainly not very surprising either. Even with an entire episode dedicated to her, she didn’t manage to rise above obviously vestigial. At least like… try to third degree rape her or something.

It was just a really really generic maid episode, the likes of which you’ll find in about 75% of shows. It did absolutely nothing to justify either the maid’s existence or its own. The maid shows up, hovers ‘hilariously’ around them, cleans things, over-prepares outfits and rooms, sets up elaborate decorations or whathaveryou, has a flashback to the one time someone was nice to her leading her to be an incomplete person unless enslaved to them, and then begrudging acceptance, same as when Mahoro did it, and whatever maid before her did that.

Next Episode:

Nice head-fins, dragon.

    But they justified her present
    she is Ange first waifu
    HELL YEAH!

    Need less floating steam.

And whatever happened to the cock that appeared last week? I don’t even have to read/watch it but from the caps, the story up to here so far is jumbled all over the place. Studio Deen couldn’t do any worse with mangling a story.

God they didnt even use the maid as a vessel to hint or tell us about whats going on in the kingdom since Ange left. Whats happening there now? What has Ange’s evil brother been doing since she left? How did the maid escape covering for Ange and what was she doing before she sneaked onto lesbian rape island? Something beyond what we already know. What a waste of an episode.

Anyway, the third OVA for Yozakura Quartet finally surfaced on the net.

I’m starting to think that Japan doesn’t have writers any more. Not for years now. They just have “intelligent” algorithms that randomly generate story-drafts from generic elements.

“Generic [personal] [maid character]. Backstory, [owner] was [nice to them once].”

Is that maid wearing a pair of panties on her head?
