Sengoku Basara #28 — Mitsunari Scowling

July 19th, 2014

Does Motochika’s head seem especially tiny now to anybody else?

For the record, this aired over an hour late. It has yet to air on time, getting broadcast 15, 40, and 65 minutes late respectively.

Impressions:

I don’t think I can do this, Basara. More of this episode was spent just looking at Mitsunari scowling than anything else. The scant action scenes each lasted under three second. More time was spent on someone drawing their sword or attacking a single time with it blocked, then both parties staring at each other, no doubt in barely restrained lust. As for what ‘happened’? Ieyasu wandered around talking to people. And Mitsunari wandered around, talking to mostly the same people. And that’s it. It’s going nowhere and it’s being exceptionally boring along the way, even without the stupidity of particularly awful writing to give it any kind of flavor.

It’s not as obnoxiously melodramatic as the second season was (yet), but it’s still a very, very far cry from what made the first season fun. Specifically, it seems to have forgotten that it’s Sengoku Basara and thinks itself to be some kind of serious historical drama, and the action/motorhorses are just the sides.

But if you drop it I’ll never know how it ends.

      I AM, OKAY.

IT’S ON A WEEKEND AND I NEED DISTRACTIONS AFTER WAKING UP EARLY AND TRANSLATING BADLY WRITTEN PORNOGRAPHY.
