World Conquest #02 — Captain Domestic

January 18th, 2014

This season is beginning to make me angry.

Impressions:

What is it about Japanese media that not only feels the need to include, but centerpiece the horrible, bland, eternally panicked male lead? Ye lords. His contribution to the team of is that he can do household chores. That’s it. He can cook. Maybe not even clean. And therefore he is an invaluable member of the team and could not at all be replaced by a startled toaster oven with a rat tail taped to the front. Thus passes our first sixteen minutes of the show, barring the reveal that he can cook, of course; we wouldn’t want to overwhelm the audience. He meets the entire cast again, but without their costumes and marvels at… seeing them. Sixteen minutes spent of “OUR CHARACTERS SURE ARE WEIRD!” almost entirely through the internal narrative of someone I want to strangle.

I guess there was more on the female friend being an antagonist of sorts, but I kind of got that after she was lurking around in a costume and mask at the end of last week. I didn’t think that she was doing cardio, guys. The budget took the standard A-1 second episode kneecapping too, and it wasn’t praticularly impressive to begin with. That just leaves Blandy McRatTail bouncing from one unmasked character and going about their mundane daily life character to the next for twenty minutes, because damn, dudes. We’ve got like, 10 more episodes to fill. Can’t blow our load all at once by having anything happen!

Next Episode:

Hard hats.

Lucky, that there are Animes with more then 12-13 Episodes running, and i like them….

  • Anon says:

It is only a matter of time, when here they play the “Loli and Sexy and Slut” Play card to hold or catch more Spectators.

How low they fallen, using Kids for that

  • Fate says:

Thankfully I am liking the 2 cour shows that have carried over. This new season is really bad.

  • Mesousa2877 says:

You and I both, Aroduc, this show is like Pauly Shore.

  • JCA says:

Half-naked, superpowered loli. How do you screw that up? That’s the ONE THING that Japan should have absolutely down by this point.

  • jingoi says:

The Brave Little Toaster would be a better anime protagonist.

  • Longhaul says:

For all the ragging on the MC you guys are doing you have to give him credit for manning up a bit (in the second episode no less) and not only telling the one girl everyone was afraid of that her food was shit, but not backing down afterwords either.

  • anon999 says:

Oh, god. World-conquering lolis. Wow, Japan has been making a lot of weird ideas for their anime, but this takes the damn cake.

  • animeartfan says:

If most anime in Japan becomes 8 episodes per season, would that help?

  • Anonymous says:

    World-conquering lolis again?

When we will get world-conquering MILFs?

  • The Phantom says:

I loved the dinning scene, was surreal, even the music made it look creepy, great scene.
