Student Council Officers #22 — Now With More CGI People!
January 4th, 2014

Just what I was hoping for!
Impressions:
GoHands continues its standard trend of throwing boatloads of money at the first episode of all their shows, but that’s not the same as actually looking good. The first half is a half-assed reintroduction to the entire cast, all bloody twenty of them or so, but spiced up with the double headed hydra of swarms of CGI people and some awful rotoscoping. Apparently somebody looked at the show and decided that is what was missing. Not just CGI people either, but boob bounces with wacky noises. Not something it lacked before, but I don’t think Aria can even move anymore without some kind of boinging noise like her character has been rewritten to be 1/4 Jew’s harp.
The second half was more back to form, albeit the same form that I had grown a bit weary of about five OVAs ago, not even counting the most recent one that I skipped. They also decided to use the budget a little less for CGI and I’m sure that judo match will be a much better animated fight than some of the ‘action’ shows this season manage in their first episode. Little has changed besides the small and no doubt temporary bump upward in the budget. Maybe the jokes were a little more snappy in the second half than usual, but still of the same “randomly blurt out or think something related to sex,” variety that got old a long time ago, along with the same completely slapdash structure and total lack of any plot (as in like… the level of a Seinfeld’s episode’s plot) to connect things and make them flow in any way.Â
If you just want more of the same, then bully for you. Besides the ten minute recap of the characters, that’s what you’re getting. They haven’t fixed any of the issues I had with the first season/OVAs though and I’m not really feeling particularly interested in going through another three months of the same if I couldn’t even stomach keeping up with it consistently when it was one episode every few months.
