Multiple Choices #04 — Explaining Men
October 30th, 2013
If it hadn’t eaten up half the episode, it sure would have seemed token.
Impressions:
You know, the very moment it went with the "get a harem," choice, I said to myself "It’s going to be of men." And then it took goddamned nearly half the episode to reach that punchline. It even took the time out to explain that they were men, perhaps forgetting that this is not a light novel and we can, in fact, already see that they are males, that the shininess around them has pegged them as the male idol types, and that the joke was already made long before it spent another 30 seconds reiterating it. The only point of the first 18 minutes or so seemed to be "Chocolat joins the class" and after that, "maybe something will happen with the usual set of people some future episode." These characters are nowhere near enough to hold their own doing damned nothing for twenty minutes. As I said yesterday, I’m not asking for a world-shaking plot here, but just a little damned direction in an episode to give it a sense of purpose and at least try to hide that it’s barely two minutes worth of content stretched out to ten times that length would be stellar.
I guess there was also some moping around and self-reflection about why he has no spine or brain of his own, but that kind of introspection is well beyond someone without two braincells to rub together. Why do you put up with her? Because you’re a doormat.

The part when he hung up on god and turned off his phone and god immediately negated it and called him back was pretty funny. God’s response of “I am god stupid” was pretty great.
