Gatchaman Crowds #05 — Now There’s Blood?
August 9th, 2013
What? Now we’re cool with it?
Fun fact: After six episodes (including next week’s), this show will have had its broadcast delayed five times.
And a side note, I did flip through the Gargantia Ep #14 OVA. It looks… like something I also would not enjoy. Basically, Red and Amy walking through dark spaces while she cowers and clings to his back. Similarly, JC Staff broadcasting 20 minutes of the Index movie instead of a Railgun episode this week to advertise it being released today strikes me as somewhat desperate. I may or may not cover the actual movie if/when it pops. I’ve heard it’s basically incomprehensible popcorn action, although given JC Staff ‘action’ for the last couple years, what exactly that means is still up in the air.
Impressions:
God, what a tedious episode. Yeah, yeah. Aroduc was frustrated and annoyed by massive soliloquizing over swelling violins. Stop the presses. But Christ. You have a team of transforming people with super powers, mobile Habbo Hotel golems, a serial killing omnisexual invisible clown… thing, and all you can think to do with all this is have them talk? Hardly even to each other either. Mostly just to spew out to the audience. Why is this show so afraid of using its antagonists? Ye lords, the cliffhanger, nearly halfway through the show, is them seeing each other. Can you even call that a cliffhanger? Was that the entire point of, well, everything this week? And all that did happen was a second ultra disaster which seems to plague any world superheroes live in, but like any manner of repetition, it’s not exactly as special the second time around (and wasn’t even that special to begin with), no matter how awesome they tell us Facebook is. Andt since this is the future, everyone still has perfect reception in tunnels. How else could they browse Habbo Hotel and use the security cameras installed in the ceiling at a moment’s notice after all? I’m also a little disturbed at how quickly and how many crowbars they had handy.
