Devil Survivor 2 #05 — “I Am The Angstiest Bunny”

May 2nd, 2013

Oh man. That hoodie.

Impressions:

A charitable person would have called this a setup episode where they haphazardly threw a dozen new characters at the screen. And besides that, hiding in empty cardboard boxes, exposition, exposition, flashbacks, exposition, and flashbacks. Oh, and some poorly jammed in comedy again, because when you really want to go "Oh crap! Civilians in danger! We need to act fast or everyone will die again!" That… Now that is the time for gags. If you were a charitable person of course.

Me? I was too busy laughing at his hoodie and that’s probably all that I’m going to remember of this episode. It’s even more ridiculous than it looked in the preview last week. He’s got his emo hair going, they’re trying to make him dark and brooding after all those deaths last week and shading over his face, and he’s wearing two giant floppy rabbit ears. I’m just baffled. Laughing, sure. But they’re trying their damnedest to make him out to be some kind of betrayed, angsty, melodramatic prat, going on about being a machine and how depressed and dark he is… with big floppy bunny ears. If you ask me, he’s already living the life.

    They found Yoshinon.

  • TMH says:

“Behold the White Fluffy Bunny of DOOM and ANGST! I shall pwn your asses with my mad emo skillz!”

Okay, I’m done laughing. Wait, no I’m not. I still say that hoodie is fucking awesome.

Well, Nitta has boobs and that’s the PLOT of this show anyway…

  • Anonymous says:

He’s a sad sad bunny, a sad sad bunny.
Surviving isn’t funny when you’re a sad, sad bunny.

  • The Phantom says:

MC was given an awful personality, I thought he was somewhat cheerful and optimistic, but he suddenly turned angsty last week and now he is in full emo mode… epic.

Can MC die and Yamato take over please? It would be epic to see yamato using and sacrificing everyone else as pawns and achieving full domination after.

    • Killer Queen says:

… To be fair, the game made the protagonist actually more optimistic and silly (based on the choices, but he’s not an emo train wreck like he is in this anime adaptation) and his title as “The Shining One” made more sense since he’s kind of the glue and polish that makes everyone shine and have their own moments of glory.
