Who saves us from the saviors?

Impressions:

It probably should have been a warning sign when the episode began in media res with the jobbing squad fighting against crayon scribbles. Then they started going on about a trip to the hot springs and my suspicions just got worse and worse. Heck, they didn’t even use the hot springs though. There was even a special ED for it where it just panned over heads and shoulders. If you want to toss in some T&A after the actual content’s over, you can do it, AIC. Halfassing it gets you nothing. So yeah, it was a very blatant time wasting episode, which is kind of unusual for the show since it’s been moving along pretty decently so far, or at least both sometimes too fast and sometimes too slow, unlike so many other things I could name that have yet to even fire up the engines.

The episode had a few moments, mostly toward the end when the pointless grunts were fighting weaponized restaurant food, but it took a good 12-15 minutes to get there. It still wasn’t great though and wasn’t really trying particularly hard to either make it funny or do a decent job with the action, and certainly not after it had lulled me to sleep. At least Shidou earned half a point by not having a temper tantrum in the closing seconds by being naked with a bunch of girls. Maybe they just ran out of time. Maybe that’s just the last thing that happened in the episode before the ED so it’s all I can really think of. Hopefully Crazypants next week will get things back on track, such as it is.
