Fourteen Sick #10 — Brought to You By EcDonald’s

Home of the Big Eac.
Impressions:
Feelings! Nothing more than… FEELINGS! On one hand, they all but jettisoned any attempts at comedy this week about three minutes into the episode. Instead, it lurched around between corny romance and melodrama. On the other hand, that made parts of it probably the funniest this show’s been in a long time. When the violins are wailing, the insert song kicks in, Yuuta’s looking like his cat was just eviscerated in front of him because a girl he likes said that she likes him, and this is then followed by yet another goddamned sob story, the last thought in my mind is that I’m emotionally touched by any of it. All it was missing is someone running in from off-screen to yell "Drama Bomb!" Maybe with jazz hands… Subtlety, thy name is not Kyoto Animation.
This was then followed by "Cheer Leader Cheese Potato!" Is… Is that a sexual act? Or are these cheese potatos so EXTREEEEME that they need the exclamation mark? And since Captain Milquetoast spent pretty much the last third brooding about his newly discovered angst, I think we all know how much that I enjoyed that. At least he found a nice angst tree to sit under and look sad. It even has its autumn plumage for extra sadness, which is kind of confusing since I’m pretty sure it was summer a week or two ago. Japan and their crazy seasons.

Did you watch Hyouka long enough to see the heart shaped pendulum clock? If pink filters wasn’t enough already.
