Sakurasou’s Pet Girl #08 — Harassing Cats With Sparklers

Where the hell did the fireworks come from?

Impressions:

Oh good, the ridiculous melodrama is back. Okada just tosses out a bad cliche like "interviews are hard," pushes things so far over the top with all that’s really shown being him completely freezing up and throwing his notes around the room like a spastic chimp, crank the drama music up to max and then have him sink into a depression over the whole thing. It’s far too over the top to be believable so any empathy is completely kneecapped, and it sure as hell isn’t funny either.

And of course, once again, we have the Super Friends Club all banding together to do something wacky and crazy to drag person X out of their funk too. Don’t these people have their own lives? Or at least anything better to do than to take care of brooding teenagers? I did ‘like’ how someone must’ve realized that Aoyama was boring and a niche had gone unaddressed, so they gave her glasses. Subtle, guys. Luckily, there were fireworks out of goddamned nowhere for the big ending and lead in to his "I learned to not be a melodramatic little bitch!" speech. Why? Hell if I know. There’s just suddenly fireworks going off. Again, subtle. I imagine that lesson will last all of 3 minutes into next week anyway.

6 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Chen says:

Aoyama just shot way up in the harem chain.

    • Asheld says:

Shiina is still on the top for me, though Aoyama has indeed been earning points.

On another note, the fireworks were foreshadowed by a poster in one of the scenes so it wasn’t exactly out of nowhere.

  • rufe says:

I have experienced what Okada went through in person, though admittedly not for an interview…

  • moridin84 says:

The glasses add a new depth to her character!

  • etery-chan says:

Yeah, finding a job is not that easy.
Is there a need to throw a tantrum and get dramatic?
    Sigh.

  • The Phantom says:

Overthetop melodrama, but is still fun somehow, Misaki is the heart of the show for me she is damn fun to watch… when she is not crying over the other idiot.
