Medaka Box #14 — World’s Longest Jump
October 17th, 2012
Do they not have a 5 year old on staff to tell them when they’re doing something stupid? They should.
Impressions:
I don’t think I can make it through this without the contrasting terribleness of Zombiessu’s second season or Okada’s Lupin. The main straw probably came early, when Zenkichi fought through the SUPER PRESSURE and then hung in the air for literally 25 seconds. If you’re doing the math, his jump lasted 3% of the episode. And this was supposed to be the exciting part. A character hovering in the air while his opponent taunts him.
Some of the rest was a little better, although all the same problems persisted, and not really enough to win back my attention. The jokes, bad as they are, remain infinitely preferable to the abysmally animated ‘action.’ I’d rather see Medaka back in her dog suit than half a minute of someone stuck in the air. Zenkichi’s flashbacks and internal infodumping about her brother were especially horrible and did nothing but pointlessly fill time. The prospect of a training arc or even just an episode fills me with dread too.
