Milky Holmes Alternative ONE — BUY THE PSP GAME
August 25th, 2012
I always pictured Opera as taller.
Impressions:
Well, this was bland as all hell. It takes place in the game’s universe where the girls aren’t complete jokes and they’ve got Opera escorting them around as their teacher, but that means that all the even half-assed attempts at humor and parody are completely gone. And since this particular bit takes place in England instead of back in Japan, we don’t get any of the regular thieves or Kokoro and her gang. England ‘Kokoro’ is… and interesting upgrade though. They also tossed in Adler, who has the personality of a damp dish rag. She can freeze things. And… uh… lurk shyly in the background. Kind of like Opera.
Frankly, I think this was just a combination of shamelessly shilling the PSP game and perhaps JC Staff trying to curry favor for their own reinterpretation of it after the fairly bleak second season. It was bland and boring to the extreme. I’m sure it was made to be similar to the PSP game in structure (perhaps even a straight up adaptation of one of the new cases), but without any of the even slight actual interaction, leaving just an incredibly lame ‘mystery’, an even lamer cliffhanger (honestly, "London Bridge is Falling Down?" Seriously?), and a lot of bad animation.
