Joshiraku #04 — Curiously Specific Cosplayers
July 26th, 2012
Who do you think you’re fooling, JC Staff?
And Joshiraku is off for TWO weeks after this broadcast. At the moment, TBS’s broadcast on Fridays hasn’t been marked as being delayed, which means that episode 5 is currently scheduled for August 3rd, but I’m expecting it to be delayed a week just like Choco. To complicate things further, after the two week break, MBS will be airing two episodes back to back, so… I don’t even want to try to figure this out. This does mean that next week’s middle may be just a tad bit sparse. I’ll think of something to post. And before you even try asking, NakaImo’s off next week too, so no "Good lord, how is this managing to be more trashy and shameless than the AT-X shows?" special feature.
Impressions:
The first two parts weren’t particularly good. The middle travel part was a little better than usual since it was about motion sickness instead of rambling aimlessly about various Japanese landmarks, but it was still pretty dumb. The parade of JCStaff character cosplayers was also a little… obtrusive? How could you even gather than many JC Staff fans together in one place in this day and age? Maybe three or four years ago but now… Anyway, the glasses/fogging up thing was even lamer. And that’s about all I can even remember about it. The nipple attack was probably the high point of that and it didn’t come until the very very end.
Thankfully the last part wasn’t too horrible, although it took a while to get going. The first half of it was basically Rorschach tests while looking at the moon/for the rabbit in the moon (silly Japanese folklore, don’t they know it’s made of cheese?), and of course, they had to directly point out the Rorschach test connection in case anybody somehow missed it. Sigh. Then it moved on to the rabbit showing up and attacking them/forcing them to entertain him. As always, violence makes everything better. I still wish this could find at least a little bit of that delivery the first episode had. Not that the first episode was brilliant by any means, but these last couple episodes barely elicited a chuckle or two.
